Manaras-Opera will comply to the revised United States National Standard: ANSI/UL325
As of August 29th, 2010, the United States ANSI/UL325 requirements for Commercial Door Operators will be revised. In short, CDO's will now have to monitor an external entrapment protection device (photo cells, sensing edge).
What are the facts?
- UL325 is a National United States of America standard (ANSI). Other countries will have different requirements.
- UL325 compliancy is voluntary.
- UL325 is a design/manufacturing standard.
- UL325 is not a law.
- CDO's must have a means to monitor external entrapment protection devices (photo cells/sensing edge/other) or must function in constant-pressure-to-close.
- If the entrapment protection system is not functioning properly, the CDO will revert to constant-pressure-to-close.
- Photo cells or sensing edge protection devices will be monitored by the operator at least once during close cycle.
- The operator plus the monitored photo cells or sensing edge must be tested as a unit by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL)
(ex: CSA, UL, etc).
As an Installing Dealer, what are my options?
- Electronic control operator with monitored external entrapment protection device; either photo cells/sensing edge (several models will be available).
- Operator with constant-pressure-to-close only (no field modifications allowed).
- Other options may be available to you, please contact our inside sales department at 1-800-361-2260.
